~The Little Cabin on Old Stage Rd, Idaho Springs~

I traveled up winding dirt and gravel roads
Tall fir trees flanking and standing at attention
Elevation gaining to opening green mountain meadows
North of Idaho Springs I arrived in peaceful reflection
It was sunny and I could see the snow-capped mountains of the divide
Beyond the trees, the meadows, and the old abandoned mine
I couldn’t hear civilization, not even a single house in sight
Just the sounds of birds, the rustling leaves, and the slow movement of time
The adobe cabin sat there modestly of efficient construction
Suggesting living on solar panels and propane could be fun
Suggesting living on solar panels and propane could be fun
Cozy with rustic beams, a wood stove, and hickory kitchen
The National Forest hugged it, and loved it, as did the sun

Fire-pit benches where campfire songs and mountain vistas sing.
A seasonal stream lie beside it in a deep lush ravine
I liked to imagine skiing and tobogganing the meadows in a winter’s scene
Just beyond the birds, the rustling leaves, and this cabin in my dreams.

Footnote: This home/cabin was built from ICF block in an adobe-style and is off-grid. It is fire resistant and highly energy efficient.
